To address this problem, Berners-Lee presented an idea to his manager in 1989. He said he wanted to create an information management system that would connect documents on computers connected to the Internet using hypertext. Initially, his manager rejected the idea. That same year, Berners-Lee approached his manager again with a new idea and received the green light. Two years later, in 1991, the project was ready. Lee had developed the HTML, HTTP, and URLs necessary for building a website, and the entire work was done on a NeXT computer designed by Steve Jobs.
