Former Army Chief General MM Naravane made a significant statement on Saturday regarding Operation Sindoor. Speaking to the media after attending a private event in Vadodara to promote the startup ecosystem, he said that the operation carried out after the Pahalgam terror attack a year ago demonstrated that those supporting terrorists cannot escape Indian action, no matter where they are. Naravane, who served as the 28th Army Chief, said that Operation Sindoor, carried out after the Pahalgam attack, was a much-needed action. He said, "Previously, whenever such attacks occurred, like after Uri and the Balakot strike after Pulwama, we mostly targeted terrorist hideouts near the border. But this time, General Naravane said that the attack targeted their supporters and those who supported them, wherever they were. Not just near the Line of Control, but inside Pakistan, in Muridke and Bahawalpur, where they receive this support. Therefore, this was a very significant change in our approach. India has shown that those who support terrorism, wherever they are, cannot escape. As our Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, we will enter their territory and eliminate them. There will be no security for them."
Pakistan is nowhere compared to India: Naravane
The former Army chief said, "There is no need to panic. Whatever action is needed will be taken at the right time." He also questioned whether Pakistan is capable of confronting India, saying no. Regarding India-China relations, Naravane said the recent talks between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi should be seen in the context of the long-standing border dispute between the two countries. He said the meeting was the 25th round of Special Representative-level talks, and this is not the first time this has happened. He added that this discussion is not the first time the 25th round of Special Representative-level talks has taken place between Ajit Doval on our side and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the Chinese side.
He said that the lack of demarcation sometimes leads to conflicts between India and China. Regarding the proposed theater commander, General Naravane said that discussions on theaterization of the armed forces began after the Kargil War. It is not a new concept. Such discussions first began after the Kargil War. It has been 25 to 26 years since then.
