Artificial Intelligence: Anthropic analyzed approximately 4 lakh sessions of Cloud Code between October 2025 and April 2026.

(These jobs are at risk due to AI)
Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer limited to chatbots or content creation. Its role is rapidly expanding in many sectors, including education, healthcare, finance, and technology. Now, a new report from AI company Anthropic has sparked a new debate about software engineering and coding jobs. According to the report, AI agents are seen performing on par with human software engineers on many real-world projects.
AI is matching engineers in coding tasks
Anthropic analyzed nearly 400,000 sessions of Cloud Code between October 2025 and April 2026. The study sought to understand how people are working with AI, the tasks being performed, and their success rates.
The most surprising finding of the report was that AI agents are achieving success on par with professional software engineers in many coding tasks. Interestingly, even people without a technical background are able to use AI to complete programming tasks that previously only experienced developers could easily accomplish.
AI is doing all the work
According to the report, a new division of labor has emerged between humans and AI. In most cases, humans decide what to build, while AI decides how to build it.
This means that humans are responsible for project planning, setting goals, and direction, while AI handles tasks like writing code, executing commands, fixing bugs, and other technical tasks. This is making the development process significantly faster than before.
Debugging time halved
The study also found that the use of AI tools significantly reduced the time it takes to fix software defects. According to Anthropic data, the share of debugging sessions decreased by approximately 50 percent.
Simply put, AI is now playing a major role not only in writing code but also in identifying and correcting errors. This is saving developers time and completing projects faster.
Are coding jobs under threat?
The report doesn't suggest that AI is going to completely replace human programmers. However, it does indicate that AI is increasingly playing a role in routine and repetitive coding tasks.
