Shopping Website: The rapid growth of the country's Khadi sector over the past few years has taken everyone by surprise. Consequently, an e-commerce portal is soon to be launched in India.

Khaadi India Portal: The Khadi sector in our country has seen rapid growth. In this regard, Manoj Kumar, Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, made a significant announcement, stating that a new and modern e-commerce portal for Khadi India products will soon be launched in the country. After sales of ₹2 lakh crore last year, a significant treasure is now about to open for the general public.
1. What is the special technology of the new portal?
Chairman Manoj Kumar explained the technology and features of the new portal, stating that it will be completely mobile-first. Customers will enjoy high-resolution images, improved payment capabilities, and exciting features like "Shop the Look." He further stated that the portal's primary objective is to appeal to the most Gen-z audience and to present the brand's story to the world in a compelling way.
2. Record sales and production figures
Meanwhile, sales of Khadi products are expected to grow rapidly in the financial year 2025-26, reaching a record ₹1,87,105 crore (approximately $1.87 trillion), up from just ₹31,154 crore (approximately $3.15 trillion) in 2013-14. Furthermore, sales are projected to exceed ₹2.51 trillion (approximately $2.51 trillion) in the financial year 2026-27.
3. Increase in employment seen
Total employment in Khadi and Village Industries activities has increased from 13 million in 2013-14 to 20.4 million in 2025-26. This means that millions of people will have gained employment opportunities through Khadi in 2025-26 compared to 2013-14.
4. Contribution of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme
Additionally, under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme, 66,494 new units were established in 2025-26, providing employment opportunities to 731,434 people. Margin money subsidies of ₹2,457 crore have been provided to individuals on loans worth ₹7,375 crore.
