Those with PNG connections will no longer get LPG.

LPG Supply: India has been grappling with an oil and gas crisis for quite some time due to the ongoing war between Iran and the US. As a result, people have faced a shortage of gas cylinders. Recently, the government issued an order stating that those who use pipelined natural gas (LPG) at home will no longer receive LPG cylinders.

The government issued orders
on Monday, effectively banning those with PNG connections from purchasing LPG cylinders. The ongoing war between the US and Israel over Iran has led to a shortage of LPG due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has led India to cut off LPG supplies to some industries.

India consumed 33.15 million metric tons of LPG in 2025, mostly for cooking. Imports accounted for approximately 60% of this consumption. Nearly 90% of these imports came from the Middle East.

The government is encouraging PNG connections.
While the government is encouraging customers to use piped gas, it has decided to withhold gas cylinders from PNG holders. This decision is being taken due to gas shortages. Petrol and diesel prices have recently increased, which could lead to a rise in gas cylinder prices as well.
