CII Business Summit: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organises the summit as a platform where eminent business leaders discuss growth and investment opportunities in India.

Two-day business summit begins in Delhi today.
Gautam Adani: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani addressed the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 in New Delhi on May 11th. The theme of this year's summit is "The Future - Global Economy, Industry, Society." The two-day event will discuss a roadmap for India's development by 2047.
Two important pillars of the country's strength
Addressing the event today, Gautam Adani said that the ongoing tensions in the Middle East have made it clear that energy security and digital security are now two of the most important pillars of a country's power. He said that the country that controls energy and computing technology today will shape the coming century. He described India's crossing 500 gigawatts of power capacity as a major achievement in this direction. He also pointed out that the world is no longer "flat," but "fractured," meaning divided. Consequently, supply chains are now being designed with national security in mind, rather than just efficiency.
Adani mentioned China and America.
To illustrate his point, he cited the example of the United States and China. The US first created Energy Abundance and now seeks to seize control over computing. Similarly, China prioritized AI sovereignty over industrial capacity. He said, "If the independence of 1947 was political, true independence in the 21st century will mean mastering the energy that lights our homes and the intelligence that guides our minds."
India to become a global AI hub.
Gautam Adani further stated that crises in West Asia, such as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, have made energy self-reliance essential for India. He also spoke about investing $100 billion (approximately Rs 8.4 lakh crore) by 2035 in developing Sovereign AI and digital infrastructure. His goal is to make India a global AI hub in the future. This investment is specifically for green-energy-based data centers to make the massive power consumption required for AI more environmentally friendly.
