WhatsApp Feature: WhatsApp's new feature will take away the tension of storage

WhatsApp Feature: WhatsApp, one of the most widely used messaging platforms worldwide, constantly rolls out new features. These enhance not only the chatting experience but also the overall app experience. In this regard, WhatsApp is currently working on another new feature that will eliminate the need for users to worry about phone storage. This feature will allow users to clear media directly from their status updates, eliminating the need to delete chats, photos, or videos to save space. This will make freeing up storage space easier.

How will this feature work?

Currently, WhatsApp has a "Manage Storage" section where users can see which chats, groups, and channels are taking up the most storage. They can delete unwanted files at will. Status updates are also being added to this section. This means that, like chats, groups, and channels, users will be able to see in the "Manage Storage" section which statuses are taking up the most storage. If videos in a status are taking up too much space, users will be able to delete that media immediately instead of waiting for the status to expire. This feature will be very useful for those struggling with limited storage on their phones .

When can this feature be rolled out?

The company is currently working on this feature, and it is in the development stage. It has been spotted in WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.26.20.6. Once testing and development on this feature is complete, the company may roll it out with an upcoming update.

A new feature will also come for privacy.

Similar to storage space, WhatsApp is also working on a new privacy feature. This feature, called "After Reading ," will make messages disappear immediately after they're read. When setting a timer, users will be able to choose to have the message disappear immediately after it's read. Deadlines of 5 minutes, 1 hour, or 12 hours can also be set. If a message remains unread, it will automatically disappear after 24 hours. This is different from the disappearing messages feature already available on the platform.
