SBI imposes limit on cash withdrawals

ATM Cash Withdrawal Limit: SBI, the country's largest public sector bank, with millions of accounts, recently announced a new decision. This decision will impact those who withdraw cash from ATMs multiple times a year or month. According to this new decision, there will now be a limit on ATM cash withdrawals. Once the limit is reached, a fee will be deducted from the account.

How much will the charge be?
SBI Bank recently issued a notice regarding this through its official X account. This notice also confirmed the exact amount of charges the bank will be deducting. According to this notice, people with savings accounts in SBI Bank will now be able to withdraw cash only four times a month. If a person withdraws cash for the fifth time, Rs 15 will be deducted from the account, and any charges after that will be deducted separately. This system will be implemented from October 1, 2026.

What was the limit until now?
However, the bank previously had no such rule. Regular account holders could withdraw cash from the bank's ATM any number of times per month. This new rule does not apply to them; it applies only to BSBD account holders. BSBD account holders who withdraw more than four times per month will be charged ₹15 per cash withdrawal. Previously, this system only allowed for one withdrawal.

Will online transactions also be affected?
SBI's notice clearly states that this system is completely separate from digital or online transactions. This means that you can make any number of online payments or transactions per month, free of charge. There is no transaction limit, either. This system applies only to those withdrawing cash from ATMs.
