PM Modi Jammu Kashmir Visit: For the first time after the Pahalgam attack, today (Friday, June 6, 2025) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Jammu and Kashmir. Here he inaugurated the Chenab Bridge built in Reasi district. During this, PM Modi was seen waving the tricolor. This was a strong message to China and Pakistan, who repeatedly challenge India's borders and sovereignty.
This bridge is built on the Chenab River and is considered to be the highest railway bridge in the world. This bridge is an important part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. The height of the Chenab Bridge is 359 meters (about 1,178 feet), which is higher than the Eiffel Tower. This bridge made of steel and concrete is not only important from the engineering point of view, but is also a historic step towards connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India by rail. Before the inauguration, PM Modi inspected the Chenab Rail Bridge and interacted with the engineers and workers involved in the construction work, he got information about the technical aspects of this unprecedented engineering project.
Chenab Bridge capable of withstanding earthquakes and strong winds
This 1,315 meter long bridge is capable of withstanding earthquakes and strong winds. This bridge is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway route and its opening will bring a big change in the rail connectivity from Jammu to the Kashmir Valley.
Vande Bharat Express trains also got green signal
PM Modi also flagged off Vande Bharat Express trains between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to Srinagar today. On this occasion, the loco pilot of the train, Rampal Sharma, expressed deep emotions. He said that this train is not just a means of transport, but a dream that the country has seen come true.
Rampal Sharma said, "It is a proud moment for all of us Indians that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and the dedicated engineers and employees of Indian Railways have done this extraordinary job. It was not easy. This route is extremely difficult and technically challenging, but the hard work, perseverance and dedication of the engineers made it possible."
