WhatsApp Smart Text Actions feature

WhatsApp New Feature: Every day, countless messages come to friends, family and office groups on WhatsApp. Sometimes these contain someone's phone number, sometimes a meeting time, address of a place or an important email ID is shared. On receiving such messages, users often have to do different tasks, but now WhatsApp is preparing to make this entire process a little easier. The company is bringing a new feature Smart Text Actions, which will recognize the information present in the chat and provide options to do related work. So let us know what is WhatsApp's Smart Text Actions feature and how it will work.

What is WhatsApp's Smart Text Actions feature?

According to reports, WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Smart Text Actions. This feature is currently available to some users using the latest versions of WhatsApp on Android and iOS, although the company has not yet officially announced its launch. The key to this feature is that WhatsApp will automatically recognize certain information written in chats. These include phone numbers, dates, times, email addresses, and location addresses. When such information is detected in a message, the app will display a dotted line below the text. Users can tap on this text to see related options.

How will the Smart Text Actions feature work?

The shortcuts available with Smart Text Actions will depend on the type of information contained in the message. If someone has sent a phone number in the chat, users will be able to choose to copy it, save it to a contact, or call it directly. Similarly, if a date or time is mentioned in the message, there may be options to copy it, add it to the phone's calendar, or create a new event within WhatsApp. If an address for a place is provided, it can be opened in the Maps app to view the route. If an email address has been shared in the chat, tapping it will bring up the option to send the email via the default email app.

Users will be able to give their feedback on the feature.

WhatsApp also wants to hear from users about the suggestions they receive through this feature. After selecting a text action, a feedback option may appear at the bottom of the screen. Here, users will be able to indicate whether the app's suggestion was useful to them. However, those who don't want to use these shortcuts can ignore the dotted line text and continue chatting as normal. Currently, this is being rolled out gradually and may take time to reach all users.

Will work on both types of messages

According to the report, Smart Text Actions will also work on information contained in messages sent by users. Tapping the dotted line below any text will open a pop-up menu that will also display the identified information at the top.
