Swiggy has launched a 'Search by Train' feature for train travelers. Passengers can now easily search for food options available on their train route by entering the train number or name.

Ordering food on the train just got easier.

If you feel hungry during a train journey and want to get your favourite food, then the fun of the journey becomes different. Now this task is going to become easier for the passengers. Swiggy has started such a feature, in which by entering the train number or name, the passengers will be able to see the food options available on their train route. This will reduce the time taken in searching for food. With the help of Swiggy's new Search by Train feature, passengers can search for food options by entering their train number or name on the app. In this, the food available according to the route and timing of their train will be shown, which means there will be no need to search for different restaurants.

12 times more food on trains in two years

According to Swiggy, its Food on Train business has grown rapidly over the past two years. Between August 2024 and August 2026, orders placed through the service increased 12-fold. Significantly, its usage in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities has grown almost twice as fast as in metro cities. In 2024, Swiggy's Food on Train service was available at 66 stations. Now, the company has expanded its reach to 201 stations, including Kolhapur, Wardha, Shahdol, Kakinada, Bharatpur, Chittoor, Thanjavur, Raigad, Jamnagar, Indore, and Tundla.

It's also easier to find cheap food.

Swiggy has also launched the 99 Store Widget, which allows travelers to easily view affordable food options on the app. This will make it easier to choose budget-friendly meals on long journeys.

Train passengers' preferences are also changing. Compared to last year, orders for lassi have increased by 60%, buttermilk by 40%, and mojito by 90%. Meanwhile, demand for common fizzy drinks has declined. Complete meals like thali (a traditional Indian dish) account for more than 65% of train orders. Sweets orders are also up 110%, with rasgullas leading the way.

Passengers are now ordering popular food from different cities while traveling by train. At Jaipur Junction, onion kachori is the best-selling item. In Bhopal, poha is among the top 10 breakfasts. In Lucknow , biryani and tunday galouti kebabs are also a favorite among travelers.
