Shardiya Navratri 2025: The Sharadiya Navratri of the month of Ashwin begins on September 22. Two auspicious moments are being created on the first day for Ghatasthapana. The special thing is that this time the Goddess's ride is auspicious for the devotees.
Shardiya Navratri 2025: Sharadiya Navratri is celebrated from Pratipada to Navami of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Ashwin. It is called Sharadiya Navratri because it marks the arrival of autumn. This year, Sharadiya Navratri will begin on September 22nd and continue until October 2nd. These nine days of devotion to Goddess Durga are very important. Performing the worship of the Goddess during this period liberates devotees from all suffering. It is believed that the Goddess herself resides on earth during these nine days to alleviate troubles.
The Kalash installation will take place on September 22nd. Maha Ashtami will then be celebrated on September 30th, Maha Navami on October 1st, and Dussehra on October 2nd. The immersion of Goddess Durga idols also takes place on October 2nd.
Auspicious time for Ghatasthapana during Sharadiya Navratri
Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana. The most auspicious time for Ghatasthapana is from 6:09 AM to 8:06 AM on September 22nd. The Abhijit Muhurta for Ghatasthapana is from 11:49 AM to 12:38 PM.
Mother's ride is special
- This year, Goddess Durga's vehicle is an elephant. Scriptures hold that when the Goddess arrives riding an elephant during Navratri, it brings the possibility of heavy rainfall. This vehicle of the Goddess conveys the message that the country may benefit in the coming times. People will find happiness and prosperity.
- It is written in Devi Bhagavat that the vehicle of the Goddess is decided according to the day on which Navratri begins.
- The Goddess has different vehicles for each of the seven days of the week. For example, when Navratri begins on Monday or Sunday, the Goddess's vehicle is an elephant.
- If Navratri starts on Saturday or Tuesday then the vehicle is a horse.
- If Navratri begins on a Thursday or Friday, the Goddess arrives in a palanquin. When Navratri begins on a Wednesday, the Goddess's vehicle is a boat.
