Shardiya Navratri 2025: Worshiping nine girls on the eighth or ninth day of Navratri is of paramount importance. On this day, a small boy is also seated alongside the nine girls for worship. After the puja, they are given a tilak (a sacred thread) and served sattvik food.
Doing this brings happiness, peace, and prosperity into our lives. These nine girls are considered symbols of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. These little children are pure, innocent, simple, and sinless, which is why they are dear to the formless Lord Shiva.
In Hinduism, it is believed that the goddesses we worship for nine days are the source of their divine knowledge, qualities, and powers, which is why these goddesses are also called Shiva Shakti.
The meaning of worshipping girls
Worshipping these little girls during Navratri does not only mean performing the puja rituals or applying sandalwood tilak, but also the qualities like spontaneity, simplicity, and divinity that are present within the little boy among those girls.
Let us incorporate them in our lives, so that we all can become worthy of the grace and blessings of Sadashiv and Goddess Durga, the form of Shiva Shakti.
By worshipping these nine girls, we also learn that we should adopt the qualities of everyone, be it gods and goddesses, god-like children, or elders; we should see the qualities present in everyone and also accept them.
Divinity and devilry reside within
Nowadays, people have awakened demonic tendencies like negativity, weakness, and bad habits within themselves, which we are completely unaware of. Therefore, we must awaken the divine power or divinity within us.
As soon as the divinity within us awakens, our lives will begin to evolve, and the negativity within us will be destroyed. We simply need to focus on ourselves, because both divinity and demonism reside within us.
Soul with eight powers
The deeper message behind the Goddess being called Ashtabhujadhari is that when a person applies the wisdom hidden within them, their soul is filled with divinity. In that state, the eight powers of the soul naturally manifest.
These powers are not available from outside, but are already stored in our soul, such as tolerance, the strength to face situations, the ability to judge right and wrong, the ability to make decisions and spirit of cooperation.
The nine days of Navratri are essential for self-awakening.
Often, we unconsciously underestimate ourselves and say, "I can't do this, I don't have the patience, I can't get along with everyone." By saying this, we suppress our own strength.
These nine days of Navratri remind us that self-awakening is essential first and foremost. Awakening truly means emerging from the slumber of ignorance. When darkness engulfs human life and the creation of this age, only the light of self-knowledge can awaken us and make it possible to invoke the powers of the universe.
