This price increase is due to the crisis in West Asia and the disruption of supplies from the Strait of Hormuz. Nayara Energy has also previously raised petrol and diesel prices.
Petrol and diesel prices increased.
Before leaving home, be sure to check the current price of petrol and diesel, as another private fuel company has increased fuel rates today. Reliance Industries-backed Jio-bp has increased the price of petrol by ₹5 per liter and diesel by ₹3 per liter. The new prices came into effect yesterday, Sunday, October 11th, at 6 am. Following the price changes, petrol is selling for approximately ₹109.80 per liter and diesel for ₹97.75 per liter at Jio-bp outlets in Haryana.
What is the rate in Punjab and Rajasthan?
In Punjab, petrol is selling at around ₹108.54 and diesel at ₹99.19 per liter at Jio-BP outlets. Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, petrol is selling at the company's petrol pumps between ₹113.91 and ₹117.65 (depending on local taxes), and diesel between ₹97.15 and ₹100.78 per liter.
Naira also increased the price.
Prior to Jio-BP, another private oil company, Nayara Energy, also raised petrol and diesel prices by a similar amount on October 3rd. Rising global crude oil and product prices have put pressure on marketing margins, forcing companies to increase prices. Nayara has over 7,000 outlets across the country.
Meanwhile, state-owned companies – Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL – have not made any changes in the prices of regular petrol and diesel, due to which the price difference has increased compared to private retailers.
What is the price of petrol and diesel today?
Today, October 12th, state-owned oil companies have kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged across the country. However, global crude oil prices remain high. The stable prices maintained by state-owned oil companies have provided some relief to consumers amid fluctuations in the international oil market.
In Delhi, petrol costs ₹102.12 per liter and diesel ₹95.20 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol is available at ₹111.21 per liter and diesel at ₹97.83 per liter. This indicates that fuel prices are lower in the national capital compared to other metro cities.
