FSSAI bans plastic in pan masala packaging

Which packaging materials are banned?
Plastic-based materials will no longer be used in pan masala packaging. Packaging based on polypropylene, polyester, polyethylene, and other synthetic polymers, such as PVC, will be prohibited. Copolymer and laminate-based packaging will also be banned. However, packaging containing aluminum foil and metalized layers is also prohibited. This could also impact traditional plastic pouches currently in use in the market.
