Major relief for women officers who could not get permanent commission, SC orders pension for all.

In a significant decision, the Supreme Court has granted significant relief to women officers in the Army. In its ruling on a petition filed by Short Service Commissioned women officers, the Supreme Court acknowledged the bias in granting them permanent commissions.
The court upheld the women officers selected for permanent commission by the selection board in 2019, 2020, and 2021. It also stated that due to biased attitudes, many women were denied permanent commission, and therefore, all officers considered by the board in 2019, 2020, and 2021 should be considered for 20 years of service and receive pension benefits.
The court said, "In the future, the selection process should be more transparent. The limit of granting permanent commissions to only 250 women each year is not correct. This limit should be exceeded in special circumstances. The decision to grant permanent commissions should be based on merit, not on such limits." This order came on separate petitions from women officers of the Army, Air Force, and Navy.
