WhatsApp is currently embroiled in controversy. The company has been accused of making false claims about message encryption. Elon Musk and the CEO of Telegram have now responded to this.

For the past few days, WhatsApp has been in the news over claims about message encryption and privacy. A lawsuit has been filed against WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, alleging that the company has made false privacy claims. American billionaire Elon Musk and Telegram CEO Pavl Durov have now jumped into the fray. Musk has stated that WhatsApp is not secure, while Durov has labeled those who believe WhatsApp is secure as "braindead."
What is the matter?
A group in the US has filed a lawsuit against Meta, claiming that Meta and WhatsApp can store, analyze, and virtually access all users' private communications. The lawsuit includes plaintiffs from Australia, India, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa. They allege that Meta stores user communications and that its employees can access chats. However, Meta has denied these allegations.
Elon Musk gave a warning.
Responding to the lawsuit, Elon Musk wrote on X that WhatsApp is not secure. Signal also raises questions. He urged users to switch to X's chat platform instead of his social media platform. Musk has always been vocal about privacy concerns, and
Durov responded strongly.
Amid the ongoing debate over WhatsApp, Telegram CEO and founder Pavel Durov has issued a strong response. He said that those who believe WhatsApp will be secure in 2026 are brain-dead. In his post, Durov claimed that Telegram has analyzed WhatsApp's encryption and found numerous attack vectors. The system was never as robust as users were told.
