He further stated, "We are busy fulfilling a clear mission on behalf of great patriotic Americans. It has been pending for 47 years. No matter what people say about it, we will accomplish it."
Hegseth said Iran fired hundreds of rockets and drones at the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. "They were crazy about it. They never even got close. Every single one of those attacks was shot down miles away from the Lincoln. They were just wasting their ammunition in the air."
Iran wanted a ceasefire.

The Intelligence Minister is killed. The IRGC commander is no longer here. Their intelligence chief is killed. I've just left out many names. I could go on and on. This includes Iran's new so-called Supreme Leader, who is wounded.
The US Secretary of Défense said they were forced into this agreement. They had no other option. They chose mercy. They did not attack these bases. Iran had accepted the ceasefire under immense pressure. Iran's new regime had realized that a compromise would be better than the dire consequences that awaited them.
