ATM Rules Change: Starting next month, some banking rules are set to change, directly impacting ATM users. Many banks, including HDFC Bank, are preparing to revise cash withdrawal limits, transaction fees, and other requirements effective April 1, 2026.
In such a situation, ATM withdrawals and the associated charges will no longer be the same. Therefore, it is important for customers to understand the new rules to avoid any problems...
HDFC Bank has made these changes
HDFC Bank has decided to link UPI-based ATM cash withdrawals to the free ATM transaction limit. This means that customers will be required to pay extra for each ATM transaction after exceeding this limit. The new rules will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
Under the new rules, customers will have to pay ₹23 plus tax for each additional ATM transaction after the free limit is reached. HDFC Bank has set a limit of three free transactions in metro cities and five in non-metro cities. This charge will apply to every transaction after that.
PNB reduced ATM withdrawal limit
Starting April 1st, Punjab National Bank will be reducing the cash withdrawal limit on some of its debit cards. Under the new rule, while previously customers could withdraw up to ₹100,000 per day, this limit has now been reduced to ₹50,000. This rule applies to select debit cards.
Additionally, the bank has also reduced the daily withdrawal limit on some of its premium cards. Previously, withdrawals from these cards were up to ₹1.5 lakh. This limit has now been reduced to ₹75,000.
Bandhan Bank also changed ATM rules
Bandhan Bank has also changed the rules for ATM transactions for its customers. Customers will now be allowed to conduct only five free financial transactions per month at the bank's own ATMs.
Whereas at ATMs of other banks, this limit has been reduced to 3. After exceeding this limit, a charge of Rs 23 will be levied for each additional transaction.
