Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma
Ahead of IPL 2027, discussions have intensified regarding Hardik Pandya's future with the Mumbai Indians. He has been captaining the team for the past three seasons, and there has been speculation about a trade deal. However, according to reports, if Mumbai Indians fail to find a suitable replacement, Hardik may remain with the team for another season. It will be interesting to see who will assume the captaincy duties even if he remains with the team.
Mumbai Indians have yet to announce a trade for Hardik Pandya. Reports suggest he may move to another team. However, if the franchise doesn't receive a good trade offer, Hardik may be retained. It has also been stated that whether Hardik remains captain or not, he will continue to contribute fully to the team. His future will be decided by the Mumbai Indians management.
Rohit Sharma may get the captaincy again.
The Mumbai Indians also face the challenge of selecting a captain for the next season. Rohit Sharma has led the team to five IPL titles. Therefore, entrusting him with this responsibility once again could be a good option for the franchise. Rohit's experience could help the team navigate this transition. However, there is no information on whether he will be appointed captain again.
Tilak Varma is also a strong option.
Tilak Varma is being seen as a future captain for Mumbai Indians. Being young, he could lead the team for a long time. He could gain experience under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah may also be discussed, but the final decision regarding captaincy rests with the franchise.
Kieron Pollard plays an important role.
Mumbai Indians' new head coach, Kieron Pollard, could also play a key role in the captaincy decision. He has played alongside Rohit in several title-winning seasons and understands his leadership skills well. A mega auction is scheduled after IPL 2027, so Mumbai Indians will need to focus on building their team for the next season as well as the future.
