Glenn Phillips hits consecutive 5 sixes to Nitish Reddy on 6th ball out

New Zealand's star all-rounder Glenn Phillips played a brilliant innings and scored a century in the fourth T20I against India in Auckland on Friday (October 30). The Kiwi player scored 107 runs in 49 balls, hitting six fours and 10 sixes. Phillips hit five consecutive sixes off five balls bowled by Indian pace all-rounder Nitish Reddy. However, Reddy took revenge by trapping Phillips in his net on the sixth ball, dismissing him.

It's worth noting that the feat of five consecutive sixes and a wicket occurred not in one over but in two separate overs. In the first innings of the match, Nitish Reddy bowled the 16th over for Team India, and Phillips smashed four consecutive sixes off the last four balls. This over yielded a total of 32 runs. This was Reddy's third over.

Captain Shreyas Iyer once again reposed his faith in Reddy, who had conceded 32 runs in the previous over, and handed him the final over of the innings, the 20th. Phillips was at the crease, and he smashed Reddy's first ball for a six. This marked his first six of five consecutive deliveries.

Reddy took revenge by dismissing him on the sixth ball.

On the second ball of the last over, Phillips swung his bat once again. It seemed this ball would also go over the boundary, completing Phillips' six sixes in six balls against Reddy, but that wasn't the case. Abhishek Sharma caught the ball, which went towards long-off. Thus, Nitish took revenge by dismissing Phillips on the sixth ball after conceding five consecutive sixes.

New Zealand set a target of 260

Batting first, New Zealand scored 259 for 7 in 20 overs. Phillips was the highest scorer. Michael Bracewell also scored 65 runs off 25 balls, including 4 fours and 6 sixes. Mayank Yadav took the most wickets for India with 3 wickets.
