Don't make the mistake of buying a phone as soon as it's launched; a little wait can save you thousands of rupees. Learn how.

Buying a phone immediately after its launch requires paying the full price. However, if you wait a bit, discounts and cashback offers start to appear.

Buying the phone becomes expensive as soon as it is launched

Many people buy a new phone as soon as it's launched. If you do this, then a little waiting can save you thousands of rupees. In fact, companies are launching new phones every six months. Consequently, the value of older phones depreciates quickly. Therefore, you may have noticed that even the most expensive phones start receiving discounts just two to three months after launch.

How does the price drop so quickly?

Due to competition in the market, companies have to constantly update their portfolios. Therefore, most companies launch a new phone every 3 or 6 months. Samsung and Google launch new products twice a year. Apple will also follow suit this year. The constant release of new phones increases the pressure on companies to clear inventory. Therefore, to clear stock, companies periodically offer discounts, which reduces the price of the phone. Recently, before launching the Pixel 10a, Google reduced the price of the Pixel 9a by ₹10,000.

E-commerce companies also offer discounts.

These days, e-commerce companies hold sales during every festive season, offering steep discounts even on the latest models. So, if you buy a phone at full price at launch, you'll find it with thousands of discounts a few months later. So, if you wait a bit longer and don't buy it at launch, you'll find the same phone at a cheaper price.

Discount comes in a few months

Google launched its Pixel 10 series in August last year. Less than six months after its launch, the base Pixel 10 model was already receiving discounts of up to ₹10,000. Similarly, the iPhone 17 series, launched in September, also received cashbacks of thousands of rupees for Valentine's Day.
