The 8th Pay Commission is continuing its meetings. The next meeting of the Commission is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru. Prior to this, employee unions have presented a number of demands to the Commission. This clearly indicates the employees' expectations from the Commission. Different unions have presented their demands to the Commission.
Some have demanded changes to the fitment factor, so that the basic salary structure increases significantly in light of inflation. Others have demanded an increase in DA. So, let's find out what each union has demanded from the Commission.
These organizations have put forward their demands
ahead of the 8th Pay Commission meeting in Bengaluru. Two employee organizations have presented their demands to the Commission. One is the Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) and the other is the Railway Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS). These two organizations represent railway employees and retired employees. These two organizations have presented their main demands to the Commission ahead of the 8th Pay Commission meeting in Bengaluru.
IRTSA's demands?
The Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) has put forward five demands regarding fitment factor, minimum pay, allowances, etc. ahead of the meeting in Bengaluru.
- The first demand of the organization is that the minimum pay should be increased to Rs 52,600.
- At the same time, the fitment factor should also be changed according to the different levels of employees, such as:

- Apart from this, separate allowances should be given for night duty, overtime, and risk-taking jobs.
- At the same time, employees should be given good money during their service for pension and after retirement.
RSCWS's demands?
The Railway Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS) has also made similar demands for the retired employees' organization. These are as follows:
- This organization of retired employees has demanded an increase the component of basic pay.
- A demand has been made for periodic revision of HRA and TA to create a better balance between basic pay and allowances.
- A demand has been made to review the specialized duty and enhance hardship.
- At the same time, to promote retirement security, a demand has also been made for meaningful basic pay.
- Apart from this, the organization has also asked to review and increase the necessary allowances according to inflation.
What will be the outcome of the Bengaluru meeting?
The Commission's next meeting is scheduled in Bengaluru, where issues such as fitment factor, salary revision, and pension reforms will be discussed. While these issues will only be discussed, no conclusions will be reached. The Commission's final report is due in June 2027.
