Rahul Gandhi-Prashant Kishor Meeting: Will Prashant Kishor join Congress?

The two leaders had an informal but important discussion on alleged vote theft, electoral transparency and the assembly elections to be held in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Punjab, in the year 2027.

 

After failing to win a single seat in the Bihar elections, Jansuraj Party founder and election strategist Prashant Kishor met Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, sparking speculation that Kishor might join the Congress.

 

According to sources, Rahul Gandhi and Prashant Kishor held a discussion for about an hour and a half at 10 Janpath on Friday (December 12, 2025). Priyanka Gandhi was also present during the meeting. After failing to win a single seat in the Bihar elections, Jansuraj Party founder and election strategist Prashant Kishor met with Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

What issues were discussed between the two leaders?

 

The meeting also discussed the framework and process under which Prashant Kishor could potentially merge his political party, Jan Suraj, with the Congress. Preliminary discussions were held on this issue. Sources indicate that the current political situation in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar was also extensively discussed. In particular , questions were raised about the role of the Election Commission in the Bihar elections and issues related to the SIR .

 

In addition, the two sides held informal but important discussions regarding alleged vote theft, electoral transparency, and the upcoming assembly elections in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Punjab, in 2027. Political circles consider this meeting to be crucial for the Congress's future strategy and organizational expansion.

The proposal was given to strengthen the Congress

 

 

Prashant Kishor and the Congress party have had a tumultuous journey over the past few years. In 2021, he presented a proposal to re-strengthen the Congress party nationwide . Subsequently, in 2022, he gave a presentation to the party high command, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, at Sonia Gandhi's residence at 10, Janpath .

 

In the same year, Congress had invited Prashant Kishor to join a team formed for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but he had rejected the offer.
