Foreign investors' confidence faltered in December as well, with withdrawals of Rs 22,864 crore.
Foreign Investors Outflow: Foreign investors are steadily losing confidence in the Indian domestic stock market. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have been withdrawing money from the Indian stock market for the past few days. This selling trend has continued in December.
Data shows that foreign investors withdrew approximately ₹22,864 crore from the market in December. The impact of this selling by FIIs has been felt in the stock market. Shares in many sectors have faced significant pressure. However, domestic investors have certainly helped mitigate the impact of this selling...
IT and services sectors remain under pressure
Foreign investors are avoiding betting on the IT and services sectors. Over the past two weeks, foreign investors have withdrawn approximately ₹3,300 crore from these two sectors. However, the number of stock sales has declined in November.
Massive withdrawals from the financial sector
The financial services sector was most affected by the selling spree by foreign investors. In the first two weeks of December alone, FIIs withdrew over ₹6,500 crore from the sector. This pressure persisted in November as well. However, the outflows intensified in December, with the impact clearly visible in banking and financial stocks.
Foreign investors have also sold heavily in the power sector, including healthcare. Withdrawals of over ₹2,100 crore from the power sector and approximately ₹2,350 crore from healthcare have been reported. The FMCG sector is also experiencing pressure. However, foreign investors have sold slightly less compared to November.
Amid selling by foreign investors, domestic institutional investors have expressed confidence in the market, which has helped to stem the decline somewhat.
