Mehli Mistry steps down from the NCPA board, replaced by Vijay Singh of Tata Trusts.

Mehli Mistry, who was recently removed from the powerful board of the Tata Trusts due to disputes with trustees, has now also stepped down from the governing council of Mumbai's prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). According to a Moneycontrol report, Tata Trusts trustee Vijay Singh will replace Mistry on the NCPA council.

Mistry was a nominated member of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust on the NCPA Council, serving alongside other Trust representatives such as Jehangir H. Jehangir and Prameet Jhaveri. Following his exit from the Tata Trusts, he has now resigned from the NCPA Council as well. Mehli Mistry has been associated with the Tata Group for a long time.

The NCPA Council consists of Chairman and Member-in-Charge K. N. Suntook, Vice President Noel Tata, and several nominated members from the Maharashtra government. It is noteworthy that the National Centre for the Performing Arts was established in 1969 by the then Tata Group Chairman J. R. D. Tata with the support of the Tata Trusts.

The NCPA was formally inaugurated in 1970 and, over time, has grown to become one of the country's most prestigious cultural institutions. It is worth noting that the Tata Trusts hold a major stake in Tata Sons and play a key role in the group's key decisions. Mehli Mistry's removal from the position was a topic of discussion, as he had been associated with the Trust for many years and was considered to have a close relationship with the late Ratan Tata.

Following his departure from the trust, Mistry also resigned from the board of the Small Animal Hospital Trust, a charitable foundation founded by Ratan Tata with a focus on advanced veterinary care. In his resignation, Mistry stated that now that he was no longer associated with the Tata Trusts, it would be inappropriate for him to continue in this role.
