The IPL 2026 auction proved to be unpredictable, with Cameron Green becoming the most expensive foreign player in auction history, while several notable stars remained unsold. In addition to Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw, several international stars also went unsold. Australian legend Steve Smith also went unsold, while Jonny Bairstow also went unsold.

Several prominent Indian players were also included in the list of unsold players. All-rounder Vijay Shankar went unsold, while spin bowler Karn Sharma, a four-time IPL champion, also went unsold.

The most surprising name on the list of unsold players is England's Liam Livingstone, as he is a major international star and many teams were in need of an all-rounder. Despite this, no team has bid for him. Livingstone had set his base price at ₹2 crore (approximately $20 million).

On the other hand, Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw were among the first names in the list, yet they failed to find any buyers. Both Indian batsmen had a base price of 7.5 million rupees. Devon Conway and England's legendary batsman Jonny Bairstow also went unsold.
