Veteran Hindi cinema actor Dharmendra has a huge fan following. The actor has been active on screen since the 1970s and has worked with numerous producers and directors. Now, film director, producer, and writer Anil Sharma has shared an anecdote about Dharmendra's old film, "Sher," which never saw release.

Director and producer Anil Sharma, who directed films like "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha," has taken a trip down memory lane with a Dharmendra Deol film. He shared a poster from the actor's 1986 film "Sher," in which Dharmendra is seen shirtless and holding a gun.

Dharmendra was going to play James Bond.

He wrote in the caption, “The 1986 film 'Sher' was produced by an Indian and a foreign producer. It was a spy film, and Dharamji had a James Bond-like role. It was supposed to be shot abroad, but we shot some action scenes and a song composed by LP on set in Mumbai. I still remember how captivating Dharam ji's style was in this film.”

He further wrote, 'This film of Dharmendra was of a different level for any Bollywood actor of that era.'

It's worth noting that shooting for the film "Sher" had already begun, but the film was never released. Anil Sharma also directed this film, but in 1987, he starred in the film "Hukumat" with Dharmendra, which proved to be a hit. The film also starred stars like Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Shammi Kapoor, Rati Agnihotri, Goga Kapoor, and Guddi Maruti.

Anil Sharma, a native of Mathura, began his career as an assistant director. He worked on films like "Pati Patni Aur Woh," "The Burning Train," and "Insaaf Ka Tarazu," before making his directorial debut in 1981 with "Shraddhanjali," followed by films like "Bandhan Kachche Dhaagon Ka," "Hukumat," and "Tahelka."
