Chiranjeevi Files Police Complaint Over AI Deepfake Videos, Calls It a Malicious Conspiracy to Tarnish His Image

Chiranjeevi Deepfake Video Controversy:
Renowned Telugu cinema superstar Chiranjeevi has lodged an official complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police after becoming a victim of AI-generated deepfake pornographic videos that falsely depicted him in an obscene manner. The actor stated that these fabricated clips were created with malicious intent, forming part of a larger, organized conspiracy aimed at damaging his reputation and dignity built over decades in the film industry.

The complaint, filed on October 27, 2025, accuses several websites of deliberately producing and circulating morphed obscene content using artificial intelligence. According to the FIR, the manipulated videos not only misused his name and likeness but also violated his fundamental right to privacy and personal dignity guaranteed under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.

Police Action and Legal Provisions

Following the actor’s complaint, authorities have initiated a detailed probe under multiple legal provisions, including the Information Technology (IT) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Officials confirmed that an investigation team has been assigned to trace the origin of the content, identify those involved in its creation and distribution, and ensure swift action against the offenders.

The Cyber Crime Division has also begun coordinating with digital forensic experts to examine the deepfake’s technical origins and determine the networks or AI tools used in fabricating the videos. The police emphasized that such misuse of advanced technology poses serious ethical and legal challenges, and strict action will be taken against those responsible.

Chiranjeevi’s Statement and Concerns

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Chiranjeevi described the videos as completely fake and defamatory. He said the intentional spread of such misleading and obscene material is not only an assault on his character but also reflects a dangerous misuse of AI in manipulating digital identities.

He appealed to authorities to take immediate and decisive action to block and remove all such content from online platforms. The actor also urged the government to strengthen existing cyber laws and digital safety mechanisms to prevent the growing threat of deepfakes that can target public figures and private citizens alike.

An Organized Attempt to Damage His Reputation

Chiranjeevi claimed that the deepfake videos were part of a well-planned and coordinated attempt to tarnish his image in the public eye. He added that these actions were designed to malign his decades-old goodwill and credibility in the film industry.

The actor’s legal team has requested that online platforms immediately suspend accounts spreading the content and initiate digital forensics tracing to pinpoint the originators and conspirators behind this campaign.

A Growing Menace of AI Deepfakes

The incident highlights a concerning rise in AI-driven misinformation and deepfake pornography targeting celebrities, influencers, and public figures. Experts warn that such technologies, when misused, can have devastating social and psychological consequences.

Authorities have urged citizens to report any fake or manipulated media instead of sharing it, as circulation also constitutes a punishable offense under cybercrime laws
