Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev

Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev recently shared his thoughts on modern health challenges through a Facebook Live session. He clarified that the solution to genetic, environmental, and lifestyle-related diseases lies not in medicines alone, but in the "ultimate medicine" and a disciplined way of life.

The need for root cause treatment

According to Swami Ramdev, modern medicine has its value, but it often only treats symptoms. Citing Indian traditional knowledge, he explained the difference between "aushadhi" and "param aushadhi." According to him, "param aushadhi" is a holistic approach that focuses on treating the root cause of a disease rather than its symptoms.

Tackling genetic and environmental challenges

Expressing concern over the rise in diseases today, he said that many health problems are the result of genetic predisposition, pollution, and stressful lifestyles. He specifically mentioned "pralabdha doshas" (defects associated with fate or karma), which are often considered incurable, and can be largely managed through consistent yoga, pranayama, and balanced nutrition.

Advice to stay away from synthetic products

Swami Ramdev warned against the growing environmental diseases. He stated that air, water, and food contamination have endangered human health. He called for reducing excessive dependence on chemicals and synthetic products. According to him, long-term use of chemicals is harmful not only to the human body but also to the entire ecosystem.

Call for an indigenous and holistic lifestyle.

Reiterating his commitment to promoting traditional systems through Patanjali, he said that lifestyle diseases like diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure can be prevented through self-discipline and physical activity. He concluded by appealing to the audience to incorporate Ayurveda, yoga, and ethical living into their daily lives for long-term health benefits.
