Samsung's new Exynos 2700 chipset could give Snapdragon a run for its money. Reports indicate it performed well in CPU and GPU tests. Find out if it can surpass Snapdragon.
Samsung Exynos 2700 vs Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6
The chipset competition between Samsung and Qualcomm continues to be interesting. Now, a new report has surfaced regarding Samsung's upcoming flagship processor, the Exynos 2700. It claims that this chipset can outperform Qualcomm's new Snapdragon processor in some tests of CPU and GPU performance. This chip is expected to be used in some models of the company's upcoming Galaxy S27 series. However, these results are based on Samsung's internal tests; the actual performance will only be known after the phone's launch and independent testing. So, let's find out if Samsung's Exynos 2700 will compete with Snapdragon.
Will Samsung's Exynos 2700 compete with Snapdragon?
According to the report, Samsung's upcoming Exynos 2700 chipset could rival Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor in terms of performance. Samsung compared its chipset with the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, which features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The Exynos 2700 is claimed to have achieved a score of approximately 20 percent higher in the Geekbench 6.5 test and 15 percent higher in Geekbench 7.0. Compared to the Xiaomi 18 Pro, which features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, its gains in both tests are reported to be 44 percent and 36 percent.
Exynos 2700 can be found in the Galaxy S27 series
Samsung's Galaxy S27 series is expected to use both Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets. According to reports, some variants of the Galaxy S27, S27+, and S27 Pro may come with the Exynos 2700 in South Korea and Europe. Models launching in the US and China are expected to feature a Snapdragon chipset. It's unclear which processor will power the Galaxy S27 Ultra; currently, the performance figures for the Exynos 2700 are based on initial reports.
You can also get an edge in gaming.
The report also claims the Exynos 2700's graphics performance. According to the report, it performed about 20 percent better than Snapdragon's top chipsets in high-end gaming tests using the latest graphics technology. General graphics calculation performance for 3D games is reported to increase by about 5 percent, although the names and full procedures of these tests have not been revealed. It's also unclear how stable the chipset will be during prolonged gaming, and how heating or battery performance will be.
The new chipset may come with a 10-core CPU
According to leaked information, the Exynos 2700 may feature a 10-core CPU configuration, including two high-performance C2-Ultra cores and eight C2-Pro cores. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is reported to have eight CPU cores, although the report doesn't provide single-core test results. Therefore, it wouldn't be accurate to judge the overall performance of both processors based solely on multi-core scores.
