Why has commercial gas become more expensive?
In early October, oil companies increased the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder. In Delhi, the price has risen from ₹2,747.50 to ₹2,810, and in Mumbai, the price has risen from ₹2,701 to ₹2,764.50.
Commercial cylinders are used in hotels, restaurants, dhabas, catering, and other food and beverage businesses. Therefore, the price increase could increase costs for these businesses. However, this does not mean that every restaurant will immediately increase food prices. On the other hand, the price of a domestic 14.2 kg cylinder remained unchanged in October. Therefore, consumers of domestic cooking gas are not currently facing any new price increase.
Why does the price of LPG change?
Oil companies review the price of commercial and domestic LPG on the first of every month. These changes are based on the price of fuel in the international market and the rupee and dollar exchange rates. However, when commercial cylinders become more expensive, it doesn't necessarily mean that domestic cylinder rates will also change.
