A three-day meeting of the National Coordinators of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is underway in Islamabad, in which a delegation led by National Coordinator Alok Dimri has participated from India.
SCO includes Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus and China.

Meeting chaired by Pakistan
The meeting is being chaired by Pakistan's National Coordinator, Mohammad Faisal. According to news agency PTI, the meeting, which will run from September 28 to 30, will discuss a number of key issues related to SCO cooperation and coordination. These include the outline of events during Pakistan's presidency, preparations for upcoming SCO meetings and events, and other topics related to the organization's agenda.

SCO summit to be held in Islamabad in 2027
Pakistan is chairing the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27. According to Pakistan's Foreign Office, the theme of its presidency is "Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity."
Under this theme, Pakistan will focus on promoting greater regional connectivity, encouraging innovation, expanding economic cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people contacts. Pakistan's Foreign Office stated that its presidency aims to translate the shared vision of SCO member states into practical and win-win initiatives.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan will work with all member states and the SCO Secretariat to advance these priorities and further strengthen cooperation within the organization.
The first major platform for preparing for the 2027 programs
The Council of National Coordinators (CNC) meeting will serve as a key platform for coordination among Member States during the initial phase of Pakistan's presidency. It will advance preparations for various high-level meetings and events scheduled during Pakistan's presidency.
These include the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting to be held in Islamabad in August 2027. Discussions at the national coordinator level will help coordinate upcoming events and priorities among member states.
