Team India recently won the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe 3-0. India's star opener Abhishek Sharma was a complete flop in this series, scoring 01, 08, and 02 runs in the three matches respectively. Following Abhishek's flop performance, Indian player Hanuma Vihari questioned why he was being backed despite his failure, while a different standard was applied to Sanju Samson.

Hanuma believes that Sanju flopped in a few matches before the 2026 T20 World Cup and was dropped from the playing 11. On the other hand, Abhishek is being supported despite his failure.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said, "Before the World Cup, Sanju did not perform well in five matches and lost his place in the playing XI. Later, he made a comeback and became the 'Player of the Tournament'. How many runs did Abhishek score in the same tournament?"

Speaking about Abhishek's performance on the UK tour, Hanuma Vihari said, "Apart from one fifty in the UK series, Abhishek didn't score anything. He didn't even score 20s or 30s. The Indian player said that despite scoring three consecutive fifties in the World Cup, Sanju was dropped from the playing eleven in favor of young Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Questioning the team's policy, Hanuma said, "How many matches did Sanju play in the World Cup? Three. He scored fifties in all three. Abhishek's highest score in five matches is 16. Why is no one talking about this? When Sanju is discussed, he is labeled as a non-scorer. Okay, but on his day, he can win high-pressure matches."
