Stock Market Today: On the fourth trading day of the week, the BSE Sensex closed up nearly 900 points, while the Nifty 50 also advanced strongly to 24,750. Reliance Industries emerged as the top gainer amid the market rally.

Stock Market News: Amidst global tensions, the stock market witnessed tremendous growth on Thursday. The BSE Sensex closed with a jump of nearly 900 points on the fourth trading day of the week, while the Nifty 50 also reached a strong level of 24,750. Reliance Industries emerged as the top gainer amid the market rally. The company's shares rose by nearly 3 percent, providing strong support to the market.

Strength in the stock market

It's worth noting that this surge in the stock market comes at a time when tensions in West Asia are steadily rising. Furthermore, rapidly rising crude oil prices have raised new concerns in global markets, yet buying by domestic investors has strengthened the Indian market.

Earlier, in early trading, the BSE Sensex jumped 550.27 points to 79,666.46. The Nifty 50 also gained 171.45 points to trade at 24,651.95. Among Sensex companies, Adani Ports & SEZ, Reliance Industries, NTPC, Bharat Electronics, Tata Steel, and Larsen & Toubro saw notable gains.

These stocks fell

On the other hand, shares of HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, and Asian Paints were trading in the red. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 2.86 percent to $83.73 per barrel.

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹8,752.65 crore on Wednesday, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹12,068.17 crore. In the previous trading session, the Sensex had closed at 79,116.19, down 1,122.66 points, or 1.40 percent, while the Nifty had closed at 24,480.50, down 385.20 points, or 1.55 percent.
