Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Agra has issued new guidelines regarding income certificates for the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme. Instead of the student's family, the student is now asked to submit her own income certificate, enter its serial number, and upload a copy online.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University has issued new guidelines regarding income certificates for the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme. On August 23rd, Controller of Examinations Dr. Om Prakash issued a letter directing that the student's own income certificate be submitted for the scheme, instead of the student's family income certificate.
The letter asks the concerned colleges to record the student's income certificate number and upload a copy online. This university order is in the news because publicly available information regarding eligibility for the scheme states that the family's annual income must be less than ₹1.2 million. Therefore, the request for a student's personal income certificate instead of proof of family income is raising questions.
Munendra Jadon, president of Self-Finance College, said that since a student is a student, how can she possibly have her own income? Therefore, requiring a student's personal income certificate is not practical. The university should reconsider and change this order so that students don't have to face unnecessary hassles obtaining income certificates.
