The 20th edition of the Indian Premier League, the world's largest T20 league played in India, will be held next year. The auction for the players will be held in Goa next month. The list of players who will be up for grabs is still pending. One such name is likely to be that of former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir, who has now acquired British citizenship. He entered his name as a British player in the Afghanistan Premier League draft. Now, the possibility has increased that he could also enter the IPL.

Mohammad Amir has registered as a British citizen for the Afghanistan Premier League draft. According to a report in Cricbuzz, former Indian players Vijay Shankar and KS Bharat have also registered for the draft, which is expected to be held in Dubai in December this year.

34-year-old Mohammad Amir currently lives in England and has obtained British citizenship. Speculation had already been rife that Amir might enter the Indian Premier League auction, and now the likelihood has increased. If Amir plays, it wouldn't be the first time a Pakistani cricketer has played in the IPL after acquiring citizenship in another country.

Azhar Mahmood played for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL between 2012 and 2015 using a British passport. However, it will be interesting to see which team(s) might show interest in Amir.

Vijay, Ayan Khan, and Murugan Ashwin are registered as Indians in the Afghanistan Premier League. KS Bharat is listed as an Indian player living in the UAE.
