Samba (J&K) – Amid rising border tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a major infiltration attempt along the International Border in Jammu’s Samba sector, killing seven heavily armed terrorists on the intervening night of 8 and 9 May 2025.
According to initial intelligence inputs, the slain infiltrators belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group. Security has been tightened in the region as infiltration attempts from across the border continue to rise.
Midnight Operation Averts Major Terror Plot
The infiltration attempt occurred around 11:30 PM, when BSF personnel on night patrol detected suspicious movement near the Dhandhar post, close to the border. Upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a swift response from the Indian side. In the exchange of gunfire, all seven terrorists were neutralized.
A video released by the BSF captures the exchange, showing armed infiltrators attempting to breach the border under the cover of darkness.
Pakistan’s Dhandhar Post Severely Damaged
In the retaliatory action, India reportedly inflicted heavy damage to Pakistan's Dhandhar post, believed to be the launch pad for the infiltration. Officials also suspect the involvement of Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT), known for aiding cross-border terror activities.
Samba: A High-Sensitivity Infiltration Zone
Samba has long been considered a vulnerable sector due to its proximity to the border and historical infiltration incidents. Given the recent hostilities and repeated drone incursions, the region is on heightened alert. Forces remain on standby, anticipating further attempts from across the border.
Pakistan in Panic After Operation Sindoor
Pakistan's recent aggressive actions, including failed drone strikes and infiltration bids, come in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Over 50 Pakistani drones have reportedly been shot down since the operation began.
Pakistan’s failed attempt to attack Jammu Airport earlier this week further indicates its desperation amid mounting pressure from India’s strategic and military responses.
