Food items became expensive.
Statistics show that food inflation has risen to 3.87 percent in March, up from 3.47 percent in February. This means that the prices of everyday food items have seen an increase, which will directly impact the pockets of ordinary people.
Comparing rural and urban figures, food inflation in villages was recorded at 3.96 percent, while in cities it was 3.71 percent. This clearly shows that the impact of inflation is being felt not only in cities but also in rural areas.
Central bank preparations
The Reserve Bank of India recently decided not to make any changes to the repo rate. The inflation data has been released after this. The RBI adopted a cautious stance at its meeting on April 8th.
The central bank is particularly monitoring rising oil prices, as these could have a direct impact on the economy. The RBI has also clarified that it may take steps to control excessive currency fluctuations if necessary.
The highest inflation in these states
According to the latest data, the impact of inflation varied across states. Telangana recorded the highest inflation rate at 5.83 percent, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 4.05 percent, Karnataka at 3.96 percent, Tamil Nadu at 3.77 percent, and Rajasthan at 3.64 percent.
