How To Use Potato Peels: People in India love different varieties of food, so they keep trying something new. So, whenever we make potato curry, parathas, or French fries, we first peel the potatoes and throw them in the dustbin. But did you know that the very things you're throwing away as garbage can be used to make delicious and crunchy chips? Potato peels are great for both health and taste. They are rich in potassium, vitamin C, and iron. Let's learn some easy ways to reuse potato peels.

Ingredients needed to make snacks

If you've never made chips from potato peels, you should definitely give it a try. This delicious snack can be made at home. All you need is two to three cups of coarsely grated potato peels, oil, salt, chaat masala, and red chili powder.

The right way to prepare peels

The most important step in making chips is cleaning potatoes properly. Because potatoes grow underground, they tend to have a lot of dirt on them. Before peeling them, scrub them thoroughly in clean water and wash them 2-3 times. Once all the dirt is removed, use a knife to remove a few thick layers of the peel. After peeling, rinse them again with clean water. Now, leave them to dry on a cotton cloth. It's crucial that all the water from the peels is evaporated. If the peels remain even slightly damp, the chips won't be crispy.

Method of preparation

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the peels a few at a time and fry until golden. Remember, they only take 2 to 3 minutes to cook. If you want to reduce oil consumption, apply a teaspoon of oil and spices to the peels and place them in an air fryer at 200 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Once your potato peels are crispy, remove them. Immediately sprinkle salt, red chili powder, and chaat masala over the hot chips. If desired, you can also add a little Maggi masala, as this enhances the flavor. Mix everything thoroughly. Your hot, crispy potato peel chips are ready. Enjoy them with hot tea or tomato ketchup in the evening.
