PCB's new central contract
PCB New Central Contract: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to give its players a significant gift in the 2026-27 season. The board is considering a historic change in its central contract system. For the first time, the PCB will award players central contracts based on their grades. Under this system, Test players will benefit the most. They will receive nearly double their salary for a single Test match. Additionally, winning an ICC trophy will result in a 500% increase.
Media reports, citing a reliable source in Pakistan, stated that this draft of the central contracts is being prepared under the supervision of Test cricket head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and white-ball coach Mike Hesson. Test cricket is being prioritized, and players playing Test cricket will receive special rewards.
Double fees for test matches
Reports cite sources as saying that players in the 'A' category will receive 1.5 million Pakistani rupees per Test match. Previously, players were paid 800,000 rupees per Test match. Now, Test cricketers will receive nearly double this amount. Their monthly retainer, before taxes, will be in the range of 4 million rupees.
The B-category is for white-ball cricketers, covering ODIs and T20 cricket. The C-category will then include players who play only T20 Internationals and franchise leagues.
500% increase on winning the ICC Trophy
Pakistani players will benefit the most from winning an ICC trophy. Track A and Track B players will receive 500% more match fees for winning an ICC title. Winning the Asia Cup will also provide a 300% increase. It was also stated that the names of players receiving contracts from the Pakistan Board will not be made public. However, the Pakistan Board has not yet released any official information on this matter.
