Stephen Fleming: England Test team head coach Stephen Fleming has approached the Australian legend about joining the coaching staff. This could potentially lead to an Australian's entry into the English team.

England's Test team recently underwent some major changes. Following Ben Stokes' retirement, Joe Root was appointed as the new head coach. The legendary Stephen Fleming replaced Brendon McCullum as the red-ball coach. Fleming has reportedly approached former Australian batsman Michael Hussey to join the England Test coaching staff.

According to a report by 7 Cricket, Fleming has informally approached Hussey to become his batting coach. Hussey and Fleming were part of the coaching staff at Chennai Super Kings together. Hussey served as Chennai's batting coach until 2018. Before becoming coach, Hussey also played as a batsman for CSK. He was part of Chennai's team from its first season until 2013. He then joined Mumbai Indians in 2014 and played his final IPL season for the Super Kings in 2015.

Now, Fleming wants him and Hussey to work together at the international level after being part of the coaching staff at an IPL franchise. Currently, former England player Marcus Trescothick serves as batting coach for the England Test team.

Michael Hussey has been a part of England before

If Hussey joins the England Test team, it won't be the first time he's been part of the English team's coaching staff. He served as an assistant coach for the 2022 T20 World Cup hosted by Australia. England also won the T20 World Cup that year. It will be interesting to see whether Hussey joins the English team.

He scored 6,235 runs in Tests, including 19 centuries and 29 half-centuries. Furthermore, the Australian scored 5,442 runs in ODIs, including three centuries and 39 half-centuries. He scored 721 runs in T20 Internationals, including four fifties.
