Mohammed Shami on Retirement: Recently, after the retirement of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin, discussions about the retirement of Mohammed Shami had intensified in the cricket circles, but now Shami himself has spoken about these rumours.

Indian cricket team's experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami is out of Team India these days. After the retirement of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravichandran Ashwin, discussions about Shami's future had intensified in the cricket circles. Questions were raised many times on social media as to whether 34-year-old Shami is also going to say goodbye to international cricket, but Shami himself has given a big statement regarding these rumours.
Shami's blunt statement
In an interview, Shami clearly said that he has no intention of retiring now. Taking a jibe at the news of retirement, he said, "If anyone has a problem with me, then tell me. Will their life become better if I retire? In whose life have I become a stone, who want me to quit cricket? The day I myself feel that I don't feel like it anymore, I will retire without any pressure."
"Don't get selected, but I will keep playing"
On being left out of the Indian team on many big occasions, Shami said that whether he gets a place in the Indian team or not, he will continue playing. He said, "You may not select me in the international team, but I will keep working hard. Whether it is domestic cricket or anywhere else, I will keep playing on the field."
The dream of winning the World Cup remains.
Shami also said that one of his biggest dreams is still unfulfilled and that is to win the ODI World Cup for India. He said, "We came very close to winning the 2023 World Cup, but we could not win. Now my entire focus is on the 2027 World Cup. I want to play till then and win the title for the team."
working hard on fitness
After being dropped from the England Test series and the Asia Cup team, Shami is also working on his fitness. He said that he has worked hard in the last two months, especially on losing weight and bowling long spells. He said, "My love for cricket is still intact. The day my passion subsides, I will retire myself. Till then, I will keep playing with full strength."
Searching for rhythm in IPL 2025
Shami last played international cricket in March 2025. After this, he did not get a chance in the Indian team. In IPL 2025 also, he was seen struggling to find balance while bowling. Despite this, Shami believes that his career is not over yet and he will make a comeback with his performance.
