A Canadian research on such problems was published in Frontiers in Psychology. It was said that our eating habits are responsible for such problems. Especially dairy products, sweets, and spicy food affect our sleep and spoil it. Apart from this, scary dreams also start coming due to these.
What did the research reveal?
1,082 students were included in this research, and information was taken from them about their daily routine, such as what they eat and how they sleep. Out of this, about 41 percent of the students said that their sleep gets disturbed due to some food. At the same time, 5.5 percent said that food changes their dreams. About one-third of the total students involved in the research admitted that they have bad and scary dreams.
Which foods cause problems?
Research has shown that dairy products like milk, cheese, curd, ice cream and chocolates, cakes, pastries and sweets as well as spicy curries, chutneys and snacks affect people's sleep and lifestyle. Its effect was most visible on those who already had some kind of food allergy. After eating dairy products, many people had problems with gas, stomach pain and constipation. Due to this, they either had trouble sleeping or their sleep was interrupted repeatedly and they had nightmares.
What to do to get good sleep?
