Diwali sweets: As soon as the festival of Diwali arrives, sweets start piling up in the house. It adds sweetness to the festival. But during this sweetness, we often make the mistake of storing them, thinking that we have to eat them tomorrow, the day after tomorrow. Whereas we should try to avoid such things. Every sweet has a different shelf life. That is, for how many days it remains fresh, and after how many days eating it can be harmful for health. When you eat the sweets kept at home later, it can cause food poisoning, stomach upset and other health-related problems. In such a situation, let us tell you which sweet should be consumed within how many days.
A type of sweet
The first name that comes to mind is laddu. It is one of the most popular sweets in India. Gram flour laddus, boondi laddus, and semolina laddus are commonly made, and their shelf life depends on the ingredients used. Gram flour laddus, for example, contain more ghee and sugar, so they last for about 10-12 days, provided they are stored in an airtight container. Bundi laddus, on the other hand, are more delicate and contain more moisture, so they only last for about 4 to 5 days.
Barfi
Diwali is becoming such a festival that if you give relatives or neighbors any other sweet instead of barfi, their mouths will light up. There are many types of barfi: cashew barfi, coconut barfi, and milk barfi. Their shelf life varies. For example, if cashew katli is kept in the refrigerator, it can last for 7 to 10 days. Coconut spoils quickly, so coconut barfi remains fresh for only 3 to 4 days. Barfi made from milk has a shorter shelf life and does not last more than 2 to 3 days.

Gulab Jamun has a unique craze, but its shelf life is very short. It's dipped in sweet syrup. Therefore, it's only edible for 1 to 2 days at room temperature, while refrigerated, it can last for 4 to 5 days.
Kalakand and Rasgulla
Kalakand is made from milk and khoya, which makes it perishable quickly. If stored at room temperature, it only lasts for 1 to 2 days. Even if refrigerated, it only lasts for a maximum of 3 to 4 days. As for rasgullas, they only last for 1 day at room temperature, and their shelf life can be extended to 3 to 4 days when refrigerated.
Jalebi
You'll find plenty of jalebi on Diwali. Another version of it, known as Imarti, is also available during this time. Jalebi remains fresh for a day, after which its taste and crispness deteriorate.
How to keep it fresh?
If you want to preserve sweets for a longer period, always keep them in airtight containers. Store sweets containing milk and syrup in the refrigerator. Furthermore, if the sweets are high in moisture, try to consume them within 1 to 2 days. If you buy from a reputable store or order online, the shelf life will be listed on the label; you should consume them before the expiration date.
