Champions Trophy 2025 Group A Analysis: Champions Trophy 2025 is going to start from February 19. In this, 8 teams have been divided into two groups. India is included in Group A along with Pakistan, New Zealand and Bangladesh. This tournament will be played in Pakistan and Dubai. Pakistan's team will start its campaign against New Zealand on February 19, while on the other hand India and Bangladesh will play their first match against each other in Dubai on February 20.
India is considered a strong contender to win the title in this tournament, but the champion of the last edition, Pakistan, can also do a big feat. Apart from this, New Zealand, present in Group A, is also coming after winning the tri-series recently, which has boosted their morale. At the same time, Bangladesh is also adept at upsets. In such a situation, in this article we are going to tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of the teams included in Group A.
1. India's strength and weakness in the Champions Trophy
Strength: India's biggest strength is its strong batting lineup, which includes brilliant batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Apart from these, all-rounders like Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel provide depth to the team in both batting and bowling departments. The presence of Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh in bowling can help the team get early wickets, while the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja can put pressure on the opposition team in the middle overs. Apart from this, there is also mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty.
Weakness: India's biggest weakness is the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, due to which the team may face difficulties in the death overs. Apart from this, the decision to send KL Rahul at number six can limit his strength, which can destabilize the team's middle order. If the Indian batsmen get out early in the powerplay, there may be additional pressure on the middle order, which can also affect the team's run rate.
2. Strength and weakness of Pakistan
Strength: Pakistan's biggest strength is its deadly fast bowling, which includes bowlers like Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah, who can make an impact on any pitch. In batting, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan are the backbone of the team, who can put Pakistan in a strong position in any match. Pakistan's team can dominate their opponents by taking advantage of home conditions.
Weakness: Pakistan's middle order can prove to be a weak link, as they do not have any experienced batsman other than Babar and Rizwan. The team also looks weak in the spin department, as they do not have any major spinner other than Abrar Ahmed. Their fast bowling attack is definitely strong, but Shaheen and Naseem have proved to be expensive in recent performances, which can cause concern for Pakistan's death bowling.
3. Strength and weakness of New Zealand
Strength: New Zealand's team relies on its batting and all-rounder players. Batsmen like Kane Williamson, Devon Conway and Tom Latham take advantage of their experience, while Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips strengthen the team with their aggressive batting. Mitchell Santner's spin bowling can prove to be effective on Pakistani pitches.
Weakness: The biggest challenge for New Zealand is their lack of fast bowling, as Tim Southee and Trent Boult are not part of the team. Apart from this, the availability of Loki Ferguson is also not completely certain, which can weaken their pace attack. Apart from this, it will be important for the spinners to be effective in Pakistani conditions, but New Zealand's spinners are not that experienced, due to which the team may face difficulties.
4. Strength and weakness of Bangladesh
Strength: Bangladesh has a good combination of experienced batsmen and all-rounders. Players like Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehdi Hasan Miraz can handle the team even under pressure. In the spin department, Mehdi Hasan and Rishadh Hussain can put the opposing teams in trouble. On the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman's ability in the death overs can benefit the team at crucial moments.
Weakness: Bangladesh's biggest problem is its poor form opening pair, due to which the team is not able to get a good start. The absence of a world class all-rounder like Shakib Al Hasan can cost the team dearly and the form of captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto also remains a matter of concern. Apart from this, this team often makes mistakes under pressure, due to which they may face difficulties in this tournament.
