Will Virat and Rohit be included in the 2027 ODI World Cup? The BCCI's response is surprising; you'll be left scratching your head.

World Cup 2027: BCCI has given a very confusing answer regarding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli playing in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are only available for India in ODI cricket. The Hitman is currently playing in the ODI series against Afghanistan, while Kohli is out due to injury. Both players have consistently performed well across formats, but the question remains: will both veterans find a place in Team India for the 2027 ODI World Cup? BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia offered a rather evasive answer to this question.

Saikia made it clear that such information cannot be made public. Speaking to news agency PTI, the BCCI Secretary said that Team India is constantly under review. There is constant dialogue between the Selection Committee, Cricket Committee, players, and coaching staff. Furthermore, he added that our system is very robust and involves numerous experts.

A deceptive answer was given on the playing of Kohli and Rohit.

When Devjit Saikia was asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's participation in the 2027 ODI World Cup, he replied, "I don't think such things should be disclosed to the media or the public. These are strategic decisions and should be discussed within the boardroom." This makes it clear that there will be no update from the BCCI regarding Rohit and Virat's participation.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli want to play the World Cup.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have hinted on several occasions that they want to play in the upcoming ODI World Cup. After winning the 2025 Champions Trophy, both expressed their desire to continue playing. However, the BCCI, coach Gautam Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar have been tight-lipped about their participation. It will be interesting to see whether the two veterans will be able to play in the 2027 World Cup.
