It may take 4 years to improve LPG supply.
LPG Gas Supply in India: Since the Iran-US war, the petroleum supply chain in India has been severely affected. Now, reports indicate that it will take approximately four years for the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to be restored in India, according to a government official. However, the government is continuously making efforts to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG, petrol, and diesel.
A senior official told the English website Money Control that the government's focus is currently on the supply of LPG and crude oil. Efforts are being made to ensure the continued supply of LPG gas cylinders to all households and to address any shortages immediately.
Sources of vital supplies have been shut down – officials
The official added, "The government is continuously gathering information from affected suppliers. Based on this information, we can say that it may take three to four years, or even longer, for LPG supplies to return to their previous levels." The official explained that some vital supply sources have been shut down, causing these problems.
The official added, "It's not yet clear whether the source shutdown means all the wells have been depleted or production has stopped altogether. Suppliers themselves are saying it will take at least three years."
Supply disruption due to instability
It should be noted that since the Iran-US-Israel conflict began on February 27th, a crisis has arisen regarding the supply of LPG, petrol, and diesel to India, which continues. Although a ceasefire is now in effect in Iran, the Strait of Hormuz continues to be a major source of conflict. This instability has threatened the supply of LPG gas. Approximately 90% of India's LPG supplies come through the Strait of Hormuz.
