A player of Indian origin will play for the first time in the FIFA World Cup 2026, having been included in this country's squad.

The Indian football team has never participated in the men's senior FIFA World Cup tournament. This year, the number of teams has been increased to 48, but the Indian team still lags far behind in the rankings. The upcoming edition of the FIFA World Cup (FIFA World Cup 2026) is just days away. Before that, Tahseen Mohammad Jamshed made history. He became the first player of Indian origin to be included in a country's squad for the tournament.

19-year-old Tahseen Mohammed Jamshed has been named in Qatar's squad for the FIFA World Cup. Originally from Kannur, Kerala, he came through Qatar's youth academy system and currently plays for Al-Duhail SC. He's eagerly awaiting the moment he takes the field in the world's biggest sporting tournament.

Qatar's first match in the FIFA World Cup 2026 is against Switzerland on Sunday, June 14th. The match will begin at 12:30 AM IST. It remains to be seen whether Tahseen Mohammed Jamshed will get a chance to play in the first match. Qatar is in Group B, which also includes Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and hosts Canada.
