MNREGA will be named 'Ji Ram Ji', know what will change in this scheme?

Vikas Bharat Ji Ram Ji Scheme: A new rural employment scheme is being prepared to replace MNREGA. Changes are expected in everything from the name to the number of working days, payment, and funding system.

Viksit Bharat Ji Ram Ji Scheme:  The government is preparing to make major changes to the rural employment system. The name and structure of MNREGA, the country's largest rural employment scheme, are set to undergo significant changes. The central government is working to replace the existing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act with a new rural employment law. The government states that this change will be in keeping with the vision of a developed India 2047.

Not only will the scheme's name change, but changes may also be seen in the number of days employed, payment methods, and funding patterns. This is why millions of rural families are discussing what will be new and different for them in the new scheme that will replace MNREGA. Learn the full details.

There will be a change in working days along with the name

The new law the government is introducing has been named the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Ajeevika Mission Gramin Bill 2025. It is being called the VB G RAM G Bill for short. Once passed, it will replace the existing MNREGA law. Previously, there was talk of naming it the Pujya Bapu Grameen Rozgar Yojana.

But now it's being called "Developed India, Ram Ji." Sources say the new scheme is considering increasing the number of guaranteed employment days for rural families from 100 to 125. The government says this will boost rural incomes and strengthen job availability. Its goal isn't just to pay wages, but to provide more employment opportunities.

There may also be changes in payment and funding systems.

The new plan also calls for a simpler and faster payment system. While wages were previously paid within 15 days under MNREGA, the new bill calls for a weekly payment system. Under this system, wages will be paid weekly, or within a maximum of 15 days of completion. If work is not found within 15 days, there will also be a provision for unemployment allowance.

The funding system may also undergo a major change. Previously, the central government bore the entire cost of MNREGA. However, under the new scheme, states will also have to contribute. In some states, the central government will share 90 percent and the states 10 percent, while in others, the central government will share 60 percent and the states 40 percent. This will increase both the role and responsibility of the states in implementing the scheme.
